In May 2025, I announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver funds to support Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic parish's piazza and ANZAC Memorial Development at Harris Park.

This $2 million election commitment will support the development of the piazza forecourt and ANZAC Memorial and I couldn't be prouder to back it. The Church piazza will serve as a central gathering space for our whole community from school students and aged care residents to seniors and parishioners.

This is in addition to our existing $12 million commitment for better aged care services for the Maronite community.

APRIL 2026

Our Lady of Lebanon has gone out to tender, with expressions of interest opening for the carpark and piazza works in April. The EOI has now closed, and delivery is underway.

MARCH 2026

The Development Application submitted for the construction of the new Cathedral carpark, forecourt, and ANZAC Memorial has been officially approved by Council.

This project will improve access to the church, provide an additional 200 parking spaces, and create a forecourt where the community can gather.

The ANZAC Memorial will also honour and remember those who served and sacrificed for Australia.

APRIL 2025

I met with community leaders to commit an additional $2m for Our Lady of Lebanon, on top of the $10m already committed, bringing the total support for the Co-Cathedral and Our Lady Mercy Place precinct to $12m.

The Funds will contribute to the precinct masterplan including a new piazza, car park and ANZAC memorial at Our Lady of Lebanon in Harris Park – a beautiful space to gather and reflect.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
