In May 2025, I announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $2.4 million to support the Karma Kitchen and this is one I feel really deeply about.
For over a decade, Karma Kitchen has been quietly doing extraordinary work, providing free, nutritious meals to homeless and vulnerable Australians, powered by dedicated volunteers and partners like Mission Australia and Parramatta Mission.
No one in need is left behind, and that's something our whole community can be proud of. This funding will help build a permanent home for that mission, a new dining area, industrial kitchen, storage, toilet facilities, and landscaping.
With a proper base, Karma Kitchen will be able to serve around 400 people daily and expand into aged care meal support, community dinners, and crisis catering. The benefits of this project extend far beyond any one community, this is about fostering kindness, inclusivity, and care for every Australian who needs a helping hand.

The $2.4 million for Karma Kitchen is almost here.
Once the funding lands, Karma Kitchen will be one step closer to serving even more people in need across our community.
APRIL 2025
I'm proud to commit $2.4 million to support the second stage of Karma Kitchen.
For over a decade, the Hindu Council of Australia's Karma Kitchen has provided free, nutritious meals to homeless and vulnerable Australians. This funding will deliver a permanent industrial kitchen, new dining area, storage, and refurbished facilities, allowing Karma Kitchen to scale up and deliver meals to around 400 people every single day.
This is about backing a community that has given so much, and making sure no one in Parramatta is left behind.
